SWOT Analysis

Strengths

I have been playing and writing music for years so have the basics of composition already mastered. This means I can get strait to the details of the song rather than spending along time creating the basics.

I have nice software at home for composing with outside of school which means I can create music outside of lesson time so I can work on my skills and create my own music without worrying about how much time we have in lessons.

I can respond to feedback well and can create other people's musical ideas as well as my own. This means I would probably make a good producer to choose to work with on a song idea that you had because I can turn it into a reality, and then change what they dislike about it to something new.

Weaknesses

I find it hard to create new melodies and chord progressions meaning I often use the same one. This isn't to bad though because once I have made a good one I change it slightly to create lots of cool track, that sound similar but not the same.

I can't sing so I need someone else to sing my lyrics in songs I compose(Luckily I have a close friend who is an amazing singer). This is a big drawback because I am so bad at singing that even singing my ideas for lyrics to my self quietly I am out of tune so they all just sound bad. 

I used to be able to read and write music, but that was 4 years ago and I have since forgotten how. Since DAWs have become popular and they main tool for composers there isn't much need for this skill, but it is always useful.

Opportunities

I have had the opportunity to use professional DAW's at school and at home which has given me a chance to create professional sounding music. Because I have bought myself a copy of FL studio to use at home and have  access to Logic Pro at school I can produce music when ever I get an idea at home or in my music lessons. This means I don't forget the idea and can create it and save it to use later. I also can use the DAW at home to work on a similar composition to the one I'm working on at school and then in the lesson I don't need to experiment much at school and can create music in the short time I have each week.

Threats

Lots of other people my age want to create their own music and make it big, so there is lots of competition. Being a composer normally means that you have to show someone that you are better than the rest to be able to get a job rather than you pick and choose who you work with which means that you can easily not get noticed. This means you have to outshine the rest of your generations composers to get amazing opportunities.
